Camping at YD

Relaxing, swimming, toasting marshmallows, making new friends

Camping at YD is all about having the time to really get to know your new friends and the staff as well seeing as they are a bunch of big kids and just as much fun to hang around with as people your own age (believe it or not).

Swimming

At Youngdartington we usually go swimming two nights a week in a open air swimming pool just down the road- if thats not your cup of tea you can just hang around the campsite helping make dinner, collecting fire wood or playing Dungeons and Dragons with Theo.

Camp-fire

We always have a little camp-fire at both Youngdartington and Youngradford which is supervised by an adult. We sit round it after dinner to tell ghost stories and jokes and to drink hot chocolate and toast marshmallows.

Talent show

The final night at YD is always a talent show where you get to show off your amazing singing, dancing, juggling, acting, comedy etc etc skills whilst the adults get to make complete fools of themselves proving just how untalented they are compared to you lot.

Tents

Bring your own tent, sleeping bag and sleeping stuff and plenty of spare clothes. If you haven't got much just ask and we will lend you a tent or find you someone to share with. You can pitch your tent on Sunday afternoon, get your parents to pitch it on Monday morning whilst you do your first activity, or leave it until 4 30pm when we will help you put it up.

Food

We prepare everything fresh from scratch ourselves and try to make things that kids like but which are good for you too. From 2012 we are rethinking our environmental policies concerning food and packaging/waste and formalising them into an official statement. This will be available on this website sometime in the new year.

At Young Radford we will have the wonderful opportunity to have all our fruit and veg provided for us by the farm itself meaning our food miles will be 0 and it will all be organic and less than 24hrs old!
