Will there be anyone else there my age?
Obviously we can't guarantee this but at Young Dartington we have at least 30 kids each week spread across the age groups but with fewer of the oldest kids (13-14). We always have at least three or four 13-14 year olds though and most weeks we have a number of teenage volunteers aged 15-18 as well.
What if I don't feel like doing the activity I'm timetabled for?
The only activities which you are guaranteed a place on are the ones which you chose when you booked but there are always at least three activities taking place each half day and there will often be a spare place on one of them for you to swap to.
Can I phone my mum?
Yeah of course but I bet you won't want to. Most likely she'll be trying to call you because you're having so much fun you forgot to call her...
If I'm camping can I go home for a night if I'm really tired of something?
Yes of course- sometimes the comfort of your own bed for one night can make all the difference after an exciting but tiring few days.
I have a special educational need, will you be able to look after me properly?
We do not have any specially trained staff nor do we have the resources to provide 1-1 support but if that's ok with you then we are absolutely happy to take anyone with mild special educational needs. We regularly have one or two kids per year with a statement to that effect from their school. Sometimes your school or local authority might even pay for you to come.
